A pharmacist by training, Susan has forged a broad career within Pfizer before stepping into her current leadership role in Ireland.

Maeve Hynes is a pharmacist working as Chief II Pharmacist Clinical Lead, HSE National Pharmaceutical Procurement Support Team. She has a particular interest in the safe and cost effective procurement of medicines. Her current role in the HSE Access and Integration Drug Management Programme enables hospitals to undertake competitive procurement processes for medicines achieving best value and securing the supply chain.

Angela Clayton-Lea is CEO of Cancer Trials Ireland (CTI), with over 22 years’ experience in healthcare. She began her career as a Research Radiation Therapist, progressing to senior management roles in radiotherapy and operations management. In 2019, Angela joined Tallaght University Hospital (TUH), where she led the Peri-Operative Directorate before being appointed TUH’s Chief Operating Officer in 2022. She is passionate about expanding cancer clinical trials in Ireland – collaborating with investigators, international research groups, and industry to increase patient access to innovative treatments. Angela holds a BSc (Hons) from TCD, a Diploma in Finance from UCD, and an MBA from the University of Cumbria.
Professor Peter Doran is Director of the UCD Clinical Research Centre and Professor of Clinical Trials at the UCD School of Medicine. He is a recognised leader in clinical research, driving programmes that advance innovative treatments and improve patient outcomes. He also leads the UCD-Abbott Biomarker Programme, supporting major national and international research into biomarker discovery and translation to clinical practice. Alongside his research leadership, Professor Doran has played a key role in developing clinical and translational research education at UCD. His work bridges academia, healthcare and industry to accelerate medical innovation and improve patient care.
