Overview:
The PMI’s next masterclass will explore the changes and continued developments around the Rapid Review process in Ireland and it’s role in the reimbursement process. Key stakeholders will also provide insights and best practice on current Rapid Review processes and submissions in Ireland.  The masterclass will take place on September 26th at the IMI campus in Sandyford.

Topics: 
This timely and topical one-day masterclass will update attendees on the changing Rapid Review regulations, as well as outlining common pitfalls in submissions and how to best to navigate the reimbursement process.  With a changing pharma economics landscape placing new demands on market access and external affairs teams, our panel of expert speakers will discuss the future landscape of market access, best practice in submissions – as well as exploring the impact AI will have on market access submissions and modelling.   Several senior members of the NCPE team will be speaking, and will outline the updates to the NCPE Budget Impact Model which is due to be finalised shortly before the masterclass.  They will also highlight common pitfalls to avoid and best practice for budget impact analysis.

Format:
The masterclasses are designed to be a highly immersive and interactive learning tool. Numbers are kept small to allow for engagement and discussions. There will be a mix of expert speakers from the industry which will bring together market access professionals to share their insights, experience and knowledge with the room. This masterclass will also provide an excellent opportunity to share best practices and discuss ideas with fellow Market Access professionals in other companies allowing you to build a strong professional network with peers.

Who should attend?
This one-day masterclass is designed for those working within the market access and external affairs area of the industry.  It will be best suited to Market Access Leads/ Managers / Directors and/or External Affairs Leads and HEOR professionals.

 

Speakers: 

Sandra Redmond, Managing Director – Salutem Insights 

Sandra is a Health Economist and is currently Managing Director of Salutem Insights with over 20 years of experience in providing expert economic and modelling advice.  Following a Degree and Masters in Economics from UCD, she held several roles as a researcher at UCD and as an economic consultant at Goodbody Stockbrokers in Dublin and Econtech in Australia. In 2005, Sandra joined GSK as a health economics specialist, later becoming Head of Market Access in 2016. She conducted her first of many HTAs on a new treatment for HER2+ breast cancer in GSK in 2017 and has been fascinated by this field of economics since then. She joined Salutem Insights in 2018 where she and her team provide expert economic consultancy advice to industry.

 

Dr Lesley Tilson, Deputy Director – NCPE 

Lesley is Chief I Pharmacist and is a graduate of the University of Brighton. She trained in the Chelsea and Westminster hospital, London and then worked as a resident pharmacist at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust. During this time she completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy with Cardiff University. Lesley worked as a senior clinical pharmacist at St James’s Hospital Dublin, on the intensive care unit and cardiac surgery ward.
She has a PhD from the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Trinity College Dublin (2002-2005) and a Diploma in Statistics from Trinity College Dublin (2003-2004).  She is a lecturer in pharmacoeconomics to undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students.  Research interests include: Economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals in the Irish setting, pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement strategies, policies to promote generic markets, international pharmaceutical pricing, analysis of drug utilisation and expenditure trends.
She received the ISPOR Bernie O’Brien New Investigator Award in May 2011.

 

Orla Maguire, Senior Health Technology Assessor – NCPE

Orla is a pharmacist and Senior Health Technology Assessor at the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics. She graduated from Queens University Belfast and subsequently completed an M.Sc. in Hospital Pharmacy from Trinity College, Dublin. Prior to her appointment to the NCPE, Orla was employed as senior clinical pharmacist in St James’s Hospital, Dublin. During that time, she worked in various clinical specialities and also occupied the roles of procurement pharmacist, editor to the SJH Prescriber’s Guide and secretary to the SJH New Drugs Committee. Her most extensive experience is within the critical care setting where she occupied the role of ICU pharmacist for more than 5 years.

 

Dr Joy Leahy, Statistician – NCPE 

Joy is a graduate of Mathematics and Statistics from University College Cork and holds a PhD in statistics from Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Her research interests include Bayesian methods for evidence synthesis and Network Meta-Analysis (NMA), with particular focus on the appropriate use of lesser quality evidence. She has worked on applications of these methods to disease networks such as Hepatitis C, melanoma and multiple myeloma. She was previously employed as a research assistant in the National University of Ireland, Galway, where she worked on an NMA comparing pharmaceutical and behavioural interventions for hypertension. She is a statistical ambassador with the Royal Statistical Society and was the 2017/2018 TCD student chapter president for the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.

 

Paul Pierotti, Partner, Data Analytics & AI Practice – EY Ireland

Paul brings 25 years of experience in applying Data Analytics to improve strategic decisions and business outcomes. This typically involves working with an organisation’s leadership team to define their Analytics and AI vision and business case by use case. He then helps build the related assets that are embedded in operational processes to realise that value.  He has delivered over 50 successful engagements in Health and Life Sciences, including using data to improve Health Care Professional and Patient engagement. Paul has a BSc in Mathematics and MSc in Industrial Mathematics.

 

Darata Zemaitaityte, Senior Manager – EY-Parthenon

Darata is a Senior Manager at EY-Parthenon’s Strategy team in Dublin,  with a decade of experience in the Life Sciences sector. She excels in crafting market access and go-to-market strategies that meet the complex demands of the healthcare industry. Skilled in engaging with key industry stakeholders in market access and HEOR areas, Darata ensures that healthcare products are strategically positioned for both economic and therapeutic success. She holds a Masters in Pharmacy from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and a Masters in Health Economics, Policy & Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam, which reinforce her strategic expertise in the Life Sciences industry.

 

Ronan Mahon, Health Economics Lecturer – University of Galway

Ronan is an Economics Lecturer in the J.E Cairnes School of Business & Economics at University of Galway.  He is currently Programme Director for the MSc in Health Economics.  His research focuses primarily on Health Economic Evaluation. He is a member of the National Screening Advisory Committee of Ireland and a member of the Health Economics Association of Ireland Executive Committee.   Prior to joining University of Galway, Ronan worked with Novartis Ireland as their Head of Value and Access. 

 

Aoife Kirwan, Information Officer – MS Ireland 

As a person living with MS, Aoife has used her lived experience to positively contribute to the MS community in Ireland by acting as a spokesperson, ambassador and blogger. Her role in raising awareness of MS in college campuses across Ireland and the development of a dedicated information event for young people living with MS helped earn her the President’s Award from the Union of Students in Ireland.  Aoife was elected as a Board Member of the European Multiple Sclerosis Platform in April 2022 and is a member of the Drugs Group. 
Aoife holds a degree in Visual Art and a postgrad in Healthcare Innovation through Trinity College. 

 

Leah Russell, Access & Value Lead – Pfizer Healthcare Ireland 

Leah is the Access and Value Lead for Pfizer Healthcare Ireland. She is responsible for both leading and executing market access strategies for the Pfizer Portfolio in Ireland.
Leah has over a decade of experience to date having started her career in the Private Health insurance sector and has been with Pfizer Healthcare Ireland for over six years.
