Patients in Ireland have long-sought easier, more convenient access to care, and 2020 proved the concept of virtual care access and its delivery.  The recent pandemic not only underlined the power digital technologies have in connecting patients and providers, but also the inequity of accessing care.   In publishing the recent Digital Health Framework, the HSE are beginning to advance a digital-first mentality in healthcare.  The Framework outlines how the HSE will harnesses the power of data, digital technology and innovation.  Allowing the HSE to widen access to health and social care services, provide improved affordable and equitable care, better patient safety and greater productivity.
